Influential Theorist - Essay Example Per Gardner, there are a wide range of cognitive abilities that are not too closely correlated with one another, in spite of the close correlations of the aspects of intelligence that is measured thru the IQ test. (Gardner, H., 1983, p 25) For instance, two kids learning the multiplication table and child A learns or memorizes the table easily and child B is a little slow learning it. In Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, child A doesn’t necessarily mean more intelligent then child B for the following reasons: child B may be using a different approach, child B may be understanding multiplication in an essentially deeper level, or child B may succeed in a career outside mathematics As the theory says, based on the example above, child B’s slowness can be a result of the processing of the mind of the child and doesn’t not necessarily mean the child is a slow learner. The theory suggests that the child B’s intelligence may be a notch higher In fluential Theorist 3 than of the child who easily memorized the multiplication table due to a deeper level of understanding, which appears like slowness. 7 Original Intelligences Based on the book â€Å"Frames of mind: The theory of multiple intelligences†, Gardner initially listed seven different types of intelligences. The first two intelligences are the ones that are valued at schools; the next three are those oftentimes associated with arts and the last two are the ones called personal intelligences. (Gardner, H., 1993, 41-43) The first of the pack is linguistic intelligence. It involves sensitivity to the written and spoken languages and the ability to learn different languages. This intelligence entails the capability of one person to express himself in either rhetoric or poetic manner, or both. The second type of intelligence is logical-mathematical intelligence. This connotes the capability of one person in analyzing logical problems, solving mathematical problems and investigating scientific concerns. According to Gardner, this includes the capacity of one person to detect patterns and think logically. This type of intelligence is linked to mathematical and scientific thinking. (Gardner, H., 1993, p 63) The third type and the first of the three intelligences related to arts is musical intelligence. This comprises the skill of a person in the performance, composition and appreciation of music. This includes the aptitude of a person to distinguish musical pitches, rhythms and tones and the composition of those. The fourth type is bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence. As Gardner believes mental and physical activity to be related, this type of intelligence entails the capability of one person to use mental abilities to be in sync with body movements. The fifth type is Influential Theorist 4 spatial intelligence. This types deals with the ability to visualize things with the mind’s eye. This entails the capability to recognize patterns of wide s pace and more confined areas. People of this type suit careers like designers, architects, artists and others of this sort. The second to the last type is interpersonal intelligence. Most animal phyla originated in a relatively brief span of geological time, however the diversity among them is extraordinary. Every organism is very unique a detailed in certain ways, comparisons of certain types of organisms can be very difficult. The class in which will be compared is that of the invertebrates. The main difference between coelomate and acoelomate body plans are that coelomates have a true coelom, which is a fluid-filled body cavity completely lined by tissue which is derived from mesoderm. The purpose of this cavity is to cushion the suspended organs to help them prevent injury, enables internal organs to grow and move independently from the outer body wall. Acoelomates, though, lack a cavity between the digestive tract and the outer body wall. An example of an acoelomate would be a flatworm, or planarian, While an example of a coelomate would be a rotifer. The differences between protostome and deuterostome development are the characteristics in their cleavage, their coelom formation, and the fate of their blastopore. Many protostomes undergo spiral cleavage. In spiral cleavage, planes of cell division occur diagonal to the vertical axis of the embryo. The cleavage also determinates, which casts the developmental fate of each embryonic cell very early. In deuterostomes, they undergo radial cleavage, where the cleavage planes are either parallel or perpendicular to the vertical axis of the egg. Deuterostomes are further characterized by indeterminate cleavage, which means that each cell produced by early cleavage divisions retains the capacity to develop into a complete embryo. Indeterminate cleavage of the human zygote allows identical twins to be possible. In a protostome, as the archenteron forms, solid masses of mesoderm split to form the coelomic cavities, or schizocoelous development. In deuterostomes, the development of body cavi ties, or enterocoelous, happens when the mesoderm buds from the wall of the archenteron and hollows to become the coelomic cavities. The mouth of many protostomes develops from the first opening, the blastopore. The mouth of a deuterostome is derived from the secondary opening, and the blastopore usually forms the anus. The differences between radial and bilateral symmetry is that an animal with radial symmetry has parts that are arranged like the spokes of a wheel and a cut down the central axis, it would divide the animal into mirror images. Radial animals include hydra, jellyfishes, and their relatives. An animal with bilateral symmetry has a left and right side, and a cut down its central axis would divide the animal into mirror-image halves.

Barriers to communications in health and social care Communication is simply being able to pass a message and that message being understood by the person it was meant for and well understood and carried out without any problem. When this circle is interrupted either message is lost or not understood then we need to understand why. Barriers in the health sector comes in either: PHYSICAL is when a person can not access the care they want or need because of a physical problem like a walking difficulty or a wheelchair access * EMMOTIONAL:The barriers in the care sector are emotions. If not have dealt with certain feelings before by the feeler. †'Emotions can play a big part in barriers. It is important that workers within the health and social care field do not let their own emotions get the better of them.They must be professional and although friendships can be made it is important not too get attached to a service user or patient. † †'In the health and social care se tting many people may have problems and many things may be hard to deal with but workers must maintain professionals and not show a lot of emotion, yes we can empathise but we should not make a service user feel worse or more upset. * LANGUAGE :If a patient calls at his Gp and he cant speak English and no one can understand what he/she is saying then it might lead to time waste in treating that patient in terms of diagnosing patient ailment which could be deadly in terms of wrong diagnoses or time wasted in getting an interpreter.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer - 600 Words

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: A novel written by Samuel Langhorne Clemens also more commonly known as Mark Twain. Samuel was born in 1835 in what he called â€Å"the almost invisible village† in Florida, Missouri. In his younger years he and his family moved to Hannibal Missouri on the Mississippi River. He later used this town as his fictional town of St. Petersburg in â€Å"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer†. While Samuel Clemens was savoring all of his fame he and his family were living in Hartford, Connecticut where he wrote the â€Å"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer†. This story is a novel; it is an adventure/romance taking place in the nineteenth century. The themes revolve around friendship, imagination, and truth and falsehood. Tom Sawyer is adventurous, passionate, and full of wild imagination, and in particular instance of his mischievous ways he ha s a great heart. The novel opens with Tom Sawyer being searched for by his Aunt Polly due to him playing hooky from school. She has Tom whitewash the fence as his punishment. The whitewashing scene is argued to be the most famous scene in American Literature. He is best remembered for getting a number of other boys to whitewash the fence for him, and that’s how the character Tom Sawyer is and that’s what makes him such a clever character. Tom is known as the attractive bad boy and his younger brother Sid being the prudish child in the family. The reader in the novel is on Tom Sawyers side from this point onward. Tom Sawyers friend Huckleberry Finn is introduced by the narrator as a â€Å"juvenile pariah of the village† and as a â€Å"romantic outcast†. Huck is agreeably hated and horrifying to all mothers of St. Petersburg but secretly admired by their children. Huck’s father is the town drunk. Huck sleeps around the town in hogs head barrels and /or on doorsteps. He lives on his own rules and does only what he wants. He wears men’s clothing, he smokes, and he swears.
